Position Overview:
The External Reporting Manager will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reports in compliance with regulatory standards. This includes the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, ESG disclosures, earnings releases, and webcast presentations. Additionally, the role involves supporting technical accounting efforts, collaborating on whitepapers, and assisting with various special projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, offer constructive insights to senior management, and contribute to process improvements. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of External Reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review periodic financial statements to ensure compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP.
- Develop detailed footnotes for financial disclosures, including information on acquisitions, divestitures, stock-based compensation, derivatives, debt, and leases.
- Collaborate with the FP&A and Investor Relations teams to coordinate earnings reports and press releases.
- Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial reports and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized electronic records for all filings and reports.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, legal teams, treasury, and other departments during audits and financial reviews.
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations for the Audit Committee and senior management.
- Monitor and interpret new accounting standards, assessing their impact and proposing implementation plans.
- Perform peer company analysis to recommend best practices and enhancements to reporting procedures.
- Take a leadership role in ESG reporting, partnering with Sustainability teams to ensure accurate disclosure.
- Manage the preparation of debt covenant calculations and standalone financial statements for company facilities.
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior team members, ensuring high-quality work.
- Conduct technical accounting research and prepare documentation for complex accounting issues.
- Support ad hoc financial reporting requests and projects.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years in accounting or financial reporting, with experience in a public company setting.
- Certification: CPA required.
- Preferred Experience: Big 4 or equivalent SEC reporting experience; familiarity with responding to SEC comment letters is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial accounting standards. Experience with Workiva or similar reporting software is advantageous.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and project management skills. Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams.
- Time Management: Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, including flexibility to work outside standard hours during peak reporting periods.
- Additional Knowledge: Understanding of EPS calculations, share-based compensation, and free cash flow KPIs.
Salary Range: $130k - $150k
