Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Forge Operator to set up, operate, and monitor forging equipment to produce high-quality aerospace fasteners. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, adhering to AS9100 quality standards, and ensuring safety and efficiency in all forging processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Setup and Operation:
- Configure forging equipment, including dies and tooling, per specifications.
- Operate presses and upsetters to shape metals to precise dimensions.
Process Control:
- Monitor forging parameters (e.g., temperature, time) to maintain product consistency.
- Adjust settings to address deviations and ensure quality output.
Quality Control:
- Inspect forged pieces for defects using tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Document inspection results and report non-conformances.
Material Handling:
- Load raw materials into forging equipment safely and efficiently.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication and cleaning.
- Report potential equipment issues promptly.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate production records, including work orders and maintenance logs.
Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in initiatives aimed at optimizing forging processes and enhancing efficiency.
AS9100 Compliance:
- Adhere to AS9100 quality management system requirements and procedures.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with fellow operators, supervisors, and quality assurance teams.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machining or manufacturing is a plus.
Experience:
- At least 2 years as a Forge Operator, preferably in the aerospace or fastener industry.
- Familiarity with specific forging equipment used in aerospace applications.
Skills:
- Proficient in forging processes and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledgeable about various metals and their properties.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of AS9100 quality standards is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in hot and noisy environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Background in fastener manufacturing processes.
Additional Information:
