We've been retained exclusively by our client to recruit a Staff Accountant. Our client, a fast-growing international travel company with over 1,000 employees worldwide, is expanding its operations to the United States. With five years of global success, the company is now establishing a presence in Orlando, FL and seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support its accounting operations and financial reporting processes.
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing essential reconciliations, and supporting month-end close processes. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of a global organization while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting:
- Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany activity.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Month-End Close:
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing account reconciliations and variance analyses.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Support:
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with customer invoicing, collections, and cash application processes.
Bank and Account Reconciliations:
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Assist in preparing reports and analyses to support management’s decision-making.
- Help monitor financial performance by analyzing actual results compared to forecasts and budgets.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing requested documentation and information.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability in accounting operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or SAP).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a global or multi-entity organization.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, especially NetSuite.
- Exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll processes.
