Set up all types of wax injection machines; make machine adjustments as required during the shift to insure continuous production. Review all die related waxing problems with setup operators on all shifts. Take action to eliminate die related quality problems resulting in unacceptable wax quality.
Tools and Equipment:
Wax injection machines requiring manually-loaded dies, machine control devices including temperature, water, wax flow and wax injection controls; inserts; dies and die parts; vernier calipers, micrometers; dial indicators, height gages, etc.
Materials:
Wax, wax patterns, chills, die lubricants etc.
Direction of Others:
Provide training and technical assistance to Wax Cell Setup Trainees. Provide technical Guidance to Wax Cell Operators who are performing wax injection functions.

Working Procedure:
The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:
- Make recommendations to engineers and managers concerning injection improvements.
- Obtain specified dies from storage. Use hand truck to move heavier dies to wax injection machines.
- Setup dies which require special attention and skill to avoid die damage and to include micro switches and proper sequence of die operation.
- Verify proper operation of all wax injection equipment. Review dies for any damage.
- Required to help train other setup operators, on various shifts.
- Using experience and knowledge of our injection procedures, set clamp pressure and wax flow rate to readings which are necessary to produce quality wax patterns. May complete simple formula using size of die cavity and machine tonnage rating to determine clamping and injection pressures.
- Establish other control readings as required for manual or automatic operation. Run sample patterns and perform visual / dimensional inspection to Ensure quality. Correct machine settings if necessary, based on results.
- Enter proper control settings onto operator instruction sheet, along with part drawing and other required information.
- Respond efficiently to requests from operators for assistance to resolve quality and production issues. Make necessary adjustments to solve problem. Notify supervisor if there is an issue you cannot resolve.
- Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment
- Inform your supervisor about problems that occur
- May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.
- Candidates must have a minimum of one-year experience as a Wax Cell Setup Trainee, or comparable previous experience in a Wax Setup function.
- Employee must be capable of using simple arithmetic and demonstrate the capability to read instructions and interpret photographs.
- Knowledge and familiarity of the investment casting process is preferred.
- Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 70 lbs.
- Vision requirement of 20/25, near correctable.
- High School Diploma or GED
