Summary: The Front Desk is often the first point of contact and the first impression for guests. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they’ve made the right choice to stay with us. To deliver a great guest experience – a Front Desk Agent will check in and out guests efficiently, and make sure they have all they need for a great stay.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Greets, registers, and assigns rooms to guests, collects payment, issues room keys and computes bill for guests.

Makes and confirms reservations, answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner.

Keeps records of room availability and guests' accounts and posts charges such as room, fees and payment to ledger.

Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services; registration of guests; and shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.

Reviews computer-generated reports to determine if accepted accounting procedure was followed in recording transactions.

Take action to solve guest problems/complaints using appropriate service recovery guidelines.

Maintaining appearance of front lobby.

Perform other duties as assigned including guest room tours, concierge services, special guest requests (i.e. deliver roll away beds, cribs, towels, blankets, etc. to guest rooms).

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One year front desk/guest service experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in Opera/Fidelio is preferred but not essential. Some college/university preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office Word Processing software.
