The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for managing all operations of the housekeeping

department. These responsibilities include supervising the cleanliness and appearance of guest

rooms and public space, to ensure maximum productivity and customer satisfaction. It also

includes recruiting, training, evaluating, disciplining, motivating and scheduling staff and,

inspecting rooms and ensuring quality and accuracy for Front Desk check-in and departures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the housekeeping department to ensure compliance with brand and hotel standards.
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise and motivate staff and ensure they have the necessary supplies needed to effectively carry out their respective job duties.
  • Schedule staff based on occupancy and monitor fluctuations in occupancy so that schedules may be adjusted to ensure proper coverage.
  • Observe and monitor staff performance to ensure efficient operations and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Counsel and discipline staff that violate department and hotel policies and procedures through progressive counseling guidelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections of all guest rooms and public areas for cleanliness, appearance, and safety to ensure guests' satisfaction.
  • Prepare and distribute work assignments, keys, radio to staff.
  • Conduct briefings and review all information pertinent to the day's activities with staff.
  • Ensure productivity levels are being met and maintained and provide performance feedback to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Perform regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, linen closets and storage closets and chemical room for cleanliness, supply control and upkeep.
  • Be aware of and communicate guest service scores to drive improvement and higher guest satisfaction.
  • Respond to guest requests, concerns, and complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate with the Front Desk, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure a high-quality product and service level is delivered to our guests.
  • Monitor linen and guest supply inventory to maintain overall smooth operation of the department.
  • Report any maintenance issues promptly to the maintenance staff.
  • Practice safe work habits, follow MSDS and OSHA standards, wear protective safety equipment and ensure staff adheres to all safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the success of the hotel's preventative maintenance program.
  • Handle and enforce standard procedures for Lost and Found items.
  • Fills in and assists in all housekeeping related tasks and duties if necessary, as business dictates.
  • May serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) as required.
  • Any other tasks/duties requested or assigned by Management.

Skills and Specifications:

  • Strong leadership qualities and sound judgment with effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deal with guests, other departments, and team members.
  • Must possess good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and manage staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates.
  • Ability to train, supervise, assign, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates.
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be familiar with proper use of cleaning chemicals and handling of Bio-Hazard materials.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs., bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
