WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ENTAIL?
As a Visual Impairment Early Childhood Teacher, you work closely with a skilled team of direct service providers to evaluate, identify, and address the needs of our young clients. You support visually impaired and O&M children aged birth to three years in meeting their goals and overcoming their unique challenges within a medical and educational framework. By providing an interdisciplinary, family-centered, and culturally diverse approach in group and individual settings, you play a vital role in shaping young lives.
You conduct thorough assessments to measure each child's social, adaptive, and cognitive development and then create specialized instruction plans and curriculum accordingly. Fostering a nurturing and supportive environment, you provide direct services, lead playgroup, and consult with other staff regarding the children's needs. You report on behavior management and overall development, as well as provide families with additional resources and information. You ensure home and daycare visits are scheduled promptly, attend conferences, and collaborate with your early childhood education team to make a big difference for every client!

Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited college with a quality teacher training program
- Endorsements in special education and early childhood education
- Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification
- O&M certification preferred
- State driver's license, reliable transportation, and personal insurance
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Food handler's permit
- Knowledge of child development processes and how family, economic, and cultural issues affect early intervention
- Knowledge of IFSPs, Washington State special education, and federal early intervention regulations
- Dependability, punctuality, and a proactive spirit
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and ability to complete timely, high-quality work
- Professional attitude, friendly demeanor, and a commitment to safety
- Ability to conduct home visits
- Ability to act with integrity and adhere to our mission
