Home Resource is a non-profit community sustainability center. We work with, in, and for the community to reduce waste and build a more vibrant and sustainable local economy. We collect and sell reusable materials, channel materials to those in need, provide meaningful work opportunities, and educate & inspire to promote a sustainable future.

Position Summary: Home ReSource is seeking a committed team player to use their expertise, creativity, and operational skills to support our community’s Sustainability Center.

The Development Associate position is a support position helping to secure resources for and spread the good news about zero waste work as planet advocacy. If you love organizing things, data, and ideas, are energized by working with others, and are a systems thinker who cares about consistency and impact in your work - this position is for you!

Our ideal candidate will join a passionate team working to reduce waste and build a more climate-resilient future through a suite of community programs, sustainability initiatives, and fundraising efforts. The Development Associate supports fundraising processes and systems, builds community by engaging our store customers through our ReUse Rewards loyalty program, and moves our community toward lasting change by supporting special projects, events, and other advocacy initiatives.

Specific Position Responsibilities:

  • Support data systems for donor stewardship and reporting in Salesforce donor software.
  • Schedule social media posts and update in-facility signage.
  • Share gratitude with our supporters through thank yous and receipts, including funders, materials donors, volunteers, and other constituents.
  • Answer phone calls and help direct community members to appropriate resources.
  • Support messaging efforts, including emails, newsletters, and other materials development.
  • Digital file management and organizing, including photos and video assets.
  • Manage Outreach Calendar, including strategic opportunities for presentations, event tabling, and other activities, including coordination of all tabling materials.
  • Occasionally represent HR at tabling events.
  • Generate reports to support grant and corporate proposals. Some reports may require basic level research and cited data collection.
  • Arrange logistics such as set up, meals, supplies, and other details for groups and meetings.
  • Support calendaring for board and staff meetings.
  • Attend meetings and prepare meeting notes as assigned by ED.
  • Other administrative and support tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must enjoy and have an aptitude for balancing a reasonable workload that includes some regular, scheduled tasks as well as project-oriented work.
  • Strong ability to work independently, but as part of a larger team with shared goals.
  • 2 years experience working in an office or professional setting
  • Ability to communicate professionally and clearly
  • Ability to maintain an organized schedule and be able to prioritize tasks
  • Detail and deadline-driven
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications
  • Optimistic and team-oriented; able to work cooperatively and effectively both independently and with other staff, agencies, and professionals in the community.
  • Able to communicate needs and receive feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Google Drive
  • Proficient in Canva
  • Interest in waste reduction and sustainability
  • Experience with Salesforce is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of basic social media platforms

Pay/hours: $18-$21 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is 30 hours per week and work is generally Monday - Thursday; Home ReSource will work with the hired candidate to establish a best-fit weekly work schedule. Work is in-person at Home ReSource.
