Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is a key member of our financial team at HomeWorks Energy, Inc. Responsible for accounting, financial reporting and preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Key Responsibilities
- Balance Sheet Accounts:
- Reconcile and maintain major balance sheets monthly.
- Understand the impact of balance sheet accounts on financial decisions and company performance.
- Payroll:
- Audit weekly payroll.
- Record weekly payroll activity.
- Reconcile payroll expenses quarterly to IRS Form 941.
- Team Leadership:
- Partner with the Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day tasks of the Financial Associates.
- Review work for accuracy.
- Identify areas of improvement.
- Serve as a coach and mentor.
- Cross-Functional Support:
- Able to assist or substitute for any Financial Associate.
- Understand financial mechanics of the three lines of business (Weatherization, Home Energy Assessment, HVAC).
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist the Accounting Manager with the monthly close and financial reporting process.
- Audit Support:
- Assist in compiling auditor schedule of request.
- Provide insight and support to external auditors.
- Problem Solving:
- Research accounting discrepancies and recommend proper resolutions.
- Research accounting policies or review documents/agreements for accounting accuracy.
- Additional Tasks:
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance discipline required.
- Minimum of 4 years' related experience.
- Public accounting experience (Pursuing a CPA is a plus but not required)
- High-volume experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a group as required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills required.
- Initiative-taking, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Requires proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position that combines remote and on-site work. When working remotely, the employee is required to have a workspace free of distraction during work hours to perform job duties.
Salary Information
The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
