Corporate Controller
Basic Function : The Corporate Controller position is responsible for all accounting and financial aspects of the Company to include the development of metrics tied to the corporate strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. This position also establishes and implements financial policies, perform financial risk assessments, and prepares annual budgets and forecasts.
Financial Information
Oversee the financial reporting of all business units and its issuance to the corporate office.
Manage and direct the preparation of the financial statements.
Ensure financial information is reviewed and approved in accordance with established policies.
Guide financial decisions by developing and monitoring policies and procedures.
Evaluate and enhance financial controls and tax return procedures.
Analyze and interpret balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and liabilities.
Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
Monitoring closing processes, billing, invoicing, and expenses.
Operations
Oversee the company's ERP processing systems to ensure transactions are posted accurately.
Implement applicable back office best practices for the branches.
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
Oversee financial and accounting staff to include Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Analyze profit center performance metrics.
Maintain fixed asset records.
Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes
Review lease agreements and maintain lease schedules to keep track of rent payments and renewal periods
Planning
Prepare and oversee the annual budgeting process.
Manage the capital asset request and budgeting processes.
Develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company's strategic direction.
Support tactical initiatives from a financial reporting standpoint.
Risk Management
Perform internal audits and financial risk assessments, as well as facilitate intervention strategies.
Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
Develop, document, and maintain accounting and internal control policies and procedures.
Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Report risk issues to the President.
Maintain relations with external / internal auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
Document processes and ensuring compliance with financial management and accounting regulations.
Coordinate annual insurance renewals with Company’s insurance broker, including the facilitation of any insurance claims
Corporate Controller Requirements :
10 years of progressively responsible experience for a mid-size or larger Corporation.
Certified Public Accountant designation.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
Advanced competency in financial management and accounting software.
High level of written and oral communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and industry regulations.
Superb organizational and time management abilities.
Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
