What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrician position at Hood Lumber?
- Uses all proper and necessary tools to safely repair and maintain production/manufacturing equipment.
- Repairs/replaces motor control circuits, pneumatic valves & cylinders, hydraulic valves and cylinder relay circuits, DC & AC drives, limit & proximity switches, and other field devices. Experience with conduit bending and wiring motors.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
- Works with programming of VFD, Allen Bradley software and ability to troubleshoot PLC’s.
- Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, electrical supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
- Operates a forklift or other rolling stock on occasion.
- Communicates regularly with co-workers and management to ensure good two-way communication concerning electrical/maintenance issues.
- Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. Responds to repair and modification requests from the Safety Committee and/or Safety Manager.
- May also have additional responsibilities related to the operations of the plant, as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of three years of electrical experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills and experience using a computer for recordkeeping and documentation.
- Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, noisy, industrial environment.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day.
- Willing and able to pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
