The Estimator/Project Manager at Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. will work in a dynamic construction environment, executing bids and managing projects from initiation to completion. This person will be responsible for the overall estimating, completion and financial outcome of projects.

Horizontal Boring & Tunneling Co. is located in Exeter, NE, about 50 miles west of Lincoln, Nebraska. This is a full-time position, with the potential for hybrid work.

Requirements:
You’re a good fit if you have:
- Ten (10) years experience as an Estimator and/or Project Manager.
- Five (5) years field experience in utilities or underground construction, ideally as a Superintendent or Project Manager.
- Three (3) years experience managing others.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, geotechnical or a related field.
- Broad knowledge of the construction industry.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.
- OSHA certification is a plus.

Responsibilities: As a member of our team, your responsibilities will include the following. Depending on candidate experience and interest, the position can shift focus more to estimating or project management responsibilities.
- Estimate, review, and submit bids accurately, timely, and competitively.
- Review customer drawings and expectations. Identify areas of concern and develop creative solutions to problems.
- Supervise efficient preparation of pre-qualification, submittal and bid packages, as well as all job correspondence.
- Follow-up on bids, solicit feedback, and maintain communication with customers throughout the bidding process.
- Build customer markets in targeted regions, utilizing business development and marketing strategies.
- Attend meetings (pre-bid, pre-construction, job, etc.) as required.
- Prepare and maintain schedules for each job using estimate and contract documents, and request extensions when needed as required by contract.
- Communicate schedules, construction processes and layouts with engineers, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, etc. providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive professional relationships.
- Manage others, ensuring project superintendents understand and execute the work as required.
- Coordinate delivery of materials, and ensure they are ready and available with enough lead-time to avoid delay of production.
- Identify tools, equipment, or technology to complete a job and understand the benefits, costs and potential risks of each.
- Ensure the project meets or exceeds its financial objectives by overseeing and monitoring operations.
- Monitor and close out project financials: prepare cost breakdowns for billing, analyze job costs and address issues, and approve project invoices.
- Execute, submit, and manage change orders.
- Maintain detailed documentation to protect company’s interests.
- Uphold a high standard of safety, quality, service, and production.
- May supervise others.
