Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, ensuring their immediate needs are met.
- Assist clients in understanding their rights and options regarding family law and protective orders.
- Conduct crisis intervention sessions to assess client needs and develop appropriate action plans.
- Collaborate with community resources, including shelters, legal services, and healthcare providers, to facilitate comprehensive support for clients.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case progress in compliance with confidentiality policies.
- Engage in conflict management strategies to help clients navigate challenging situations effectively.
- Provide education on behavioral health issues related to domestic violence and trauma recovery.
- Offer guidance on childcare and child welfare resources for clients with children involved in domestic violence situations.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills in crisis management and intervention techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience working with children, particularly within child protective services or similar environments is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of family law principles as they relate to domestic violence cases.
- Proven skills in conflict management and crisis intervention techniques.
- Knowledge of behavioral health issues affecting survivors of domestic violence.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to empathize with clients from diverse backgrounds.
