Job Summary
The Victim Advocate plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals affected by crime or trauma. This position involves working closely with survivors of domestic violence to ensure they receive the necessary resources, guidance, and emotional support. The ideal candidate will possess strong case management skills and a passion to interrupt the cycle of generational violence.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support and crisis intervention in person and over phone (24hr crisis line)
- Collaborate with law enforcement, legal professionals, and social services to advocate for the needs of victims.
- Conduct assessments to identify specific needs and barriers.
- Develop and assist with the implementation of safety plans.
- Facilitate access to counseling services, emergency shelter, and other community resources.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case progress.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance advocacy skills and knowledge of relevant laws.
Experience
- Experience and/or education in a relevant field.
- Experience in crisis management, conflict management, and crisis intervention is a plus.
- Experience working with children and families in a supportive capacity is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to empathize with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
This position requires a compassionate individual dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of survivors while navigating complex emotional situations. Applicants need to have TN Driver's license and pass a background check.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.94 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
