Job Summary
Hotel El Robber is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pastry Lead to assist the Executive Pastry Chef in pastry, bread, and dessert production and assist in general daily operations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of pastry methods including but not limited to viennoiserie, cakes, tarts, sauces, custards, ice creams, and bread making methods. This role also requires organizational skills, leadership skills and a passion for baking and pastry.
Key Responsibilities
The Pastry Lead responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Knowledge of all pastry, bread, and dessert production and plating at Hotel El Roblar. Ability to prepare all goods according to Chef Ann's and Hotel El Robber's standards.
- Assist in oversight of pastry team's production quality, quantity, and efficiency
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen to comply with health and safety regulations
- Assist in ensuring the pastry team maintains clean hygiene and clean work habits
- Assist in the training and development of new pastry department employees, fostering a culture of growth, teamwork, and excellence.
- Assist in managing inventory levels
Qualifications
- Proficiency in baking techniques and pastry production is essential.
- Strong knowledge of pastry and bread preparation methods within a commercial kitchen setting.
- Minimum 2 years experience in pastry prep including viennoiserie and dessert prep. Experience in bread production is a bonus.
- Ability to maintain good coordination; ability to transport heavy goods to the workstations; ability to transport pots and pans of food from storage/prep areas to the workspace; ability to transport trays of baked goods from oven to cooling racks; ability to work an 8 hour shift, 5 days per week in a noisy and close environment.
- Ability to effectively use kitchen tools, including knives and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Ability to work with all products and food ingredients involved; ability to use all senses to ensure quality standards are met; ability to differentiate dates; ability to operate, clean, and maintain all equipment required in job functions.
- Ability to perform job functions without direct supervision.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all team members and management for seamless operations.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 – 40 per week
