What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spa - Massage Therapist (On-Call) position at Hotels and Resorts of Halekulani?
POSITION SUMMARY
As an integral part of a team, the Massage Therapist is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest’s experience from providing exceptional service from the point of arrival, to being involved in the operation of the spa according to Halekulani standards. He or she must be knowledgeable of the Massage industry and trends, Halekulani Spa facilities, services and products, hotel property, events, and surrounding areas. He or she must also strive to exceed guest expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Adhere to Halekulani Health & Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment
Provide professional massage and body treatments, in a manner consistent with Halekulani service standards
Provide all guests with consistent quality service through the entire shift (up to an eight-hour period)
Able to provide most massage services provided at the Spa
Adhere to all hotel, spa policies and procedures
Uphold the Halekulani services and technical standards
Willing to learn and perform all massages offered at the Spa when training is provided
Provide professional massage and body treatments (in accordance with accepted industry practices) and consistent manner at Spa
Provide all guests with consistent Services even when booked by the hour for up to an eight-hour period. Massage durations include: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes
Perform all treatments according to guest request, spa protocol, with skill, proficiency, and a gracious manner
Begin treatments at the time appointments are scheduled and perform all services within the time frame established for each massage given
Exhibit proper use of product while maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Read and adhere to schedule postings regarding shifts, room assignments, and SpaSoft reservations
Cooperate with fellow team members, at the Spa and within the various hotel departments
Practice the Halekulani Groom Standard of appearance throughout during shift
Attend all mandatory Spa meetings
Maintain positive relations with all Halekulani and Halepuna department
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
Reports To: Principal Massage Therapist and/or Director of Spa & Wellness
Supervises: None
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
A minimum of 570 hours of training in massage or have current National Certification
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Certification in CPR
Hawaii State License for Massage Therapy
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Qualified for Swedish, plus one other type of massage (preferably Lomi Lomi, Deep Tissue, or Shiatsu)
Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
Knowledge of hotel events, outlets, and hours of operation
High organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
Ability to learn and perform specific massages being offered at Spa when training is provided
Possesses time management skills
Personable and interested in general health and wellness
