Job Description:
The Housing Assistance Corporation is seeking a highly organized and proactive individual to join our Hurricane Helene disaster response and recovery team as a Home Repair Volunteer Coordinator. This role is part of a dedicated team focused exclusively on recovery efforts, working alongside home repair managers and case managers to restore safe and livable housing for impacted residents. The Home Repair Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for integrating organized volunteer labor crews into the project workflow and supporting the development of a system to track home repair projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Volunteer Coordination & Scheduling: Organize and schedule volunteer labor crews for home repair projects, ensuring their efforts align with overall project timelines and needs.
2. Project Tracking System Development: Assist in designing and maintaining a system for tracking home repair projects, including progress, timelines, budgets, and volunteer contributions.
3. Worksite Preparation & Support: Ensure all necessary materials, tools, and instructions are prepared before volunteer teams arrive. Provide on-site support to volunteers as needed.
4. Collaboration with Home Repair Team: Work closely with home repair managers and case managers to align volunteer efforts with project priorities and ensure efficient coordination.
5. Grant Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation, project progress, and expenses to ensure compliance with grant guidelines. Assist in reporting and documentation as needed.
6. Outreach & Recruitment: Recruit and engage volunteers, community groups, and partner organizations to expand the volunteer base.
7. Training & Skill Development: Provide training and orientation to volunteers to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality in home repair work.
8. Permitting & Safety Compliance: Assist in ensuring projects meet local permitting and safety requirements, in coordination with staA and contractors.
9. Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support the success of home repair initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Experience in volunteer coordination, construction, home repair, or project management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and volunteers effectively.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and instruct volunteers.
- Familiarity with home repair processes and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in data tracking and reporting, with experience in system design a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team while also demonstrating independence in managing responsibilities.
- Knowledge of local building codes and permitting processes is a plus.
- Experience with non-profits and grant-funded programs preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
