Description

HAWC seeks a dynamic Director of People and Culture Operations with a passion for the internal workings of organizational management and developing efficient, effective systems and processes that help staff succeed in their jobs.

 

Reporting to the Chief People & Culture Officer, who is responsible for overall strategy, this individual will focus on supporting and informing strategic initiatives, people & culture operational excellence, driving organizational change and learning, enhancing employee engagement, and leading talent acquisition, retention, and development initiatives to help create a positive, high-performing work environment and a strong organizational culture.

 

The successful candidate will thrive when handed a challenge and asked to develop and execute a solution, is highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at handling multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, high-volume, fast-paced environment.  

 

Your Schedule:

 

  • Monday – Fridays: 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Evenings, holidays and weekends as needed as an exempt professional
  • Hybrid: minimum 2-3 days weekly, more days onsite based on needs
  • Local Travel: 25% (internal/external training, meetings, job fairs, etc.)

 

 

Our Total Compensation Package:

 

  • Annual Compensation: $110,000
  • Pay schedule semi-monthly
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance Programs
  • Generous Paid Time Off- 11 paid holidays per year, 3 personal holidays per year, 15 paid Vacation days per year, approx. 7 hours per month of accrued Sick days.

Qualifications


The Requirements We are Seeking:

 

  • Bachelor's in: Human Resource Management, Human Resources Development, Organizational Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Leadership, Business with specialization in HR.
  • MS/MA in Human Resource Management, MBA with a specialization in Human Resource Management or other directly related master’s degree, preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR required.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive HR/P&C experience that includes talent acquisition, employee engagement and employee relations
  • A minimum of five years leading a team with direct reports.
  • A minimum two years in a senior or director-level role
  • Texas driver’s license with a good driving record and reliable personal vehicle.

 

 

What you Deliver in this role:

 

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • You will build, coach, and develop a high-performing talent acquisition team that proactively identifies, attracts, and retains top talent.
  • You will develop and implement equitable and inclusive recruitment and hiring strategies to attract top talent.
  • You will oversee the entire employee lifecycle, from job postings and interviews to onboarding and exit processes, including exit interviews and data analysis for continuous improvement.
  • You will utilize Paycom ATS to streamline hiring workflows and create a seamless candidate experience.
  • You will identify and develop future leaders by implementing structured succession planning and talent management strategies.
  • You will partner with hiring managers to align recruitment efforts with organizational goals and department needs.
  • You will perform recruitment for director-level and higher job roles and serve as occasional back-up to team members for other roles.

 

Culture, Employee Relations & Employee Engagement

  • You will foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous learning through intentional programming and initiatives.
  • You will assist to design and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts by initiatives that promote a welcoming workplace.
  • You will plan and execute engagement programs, including employee recognition, job referral, teammate meetings, and wellness initiatives.
  • You will conduct and analyze employee satisfaction surveys to identify areas for improvement and implement action plans.
  • You will mediate employee relations issues and provide guidance to managers on best practices for conflict resolution.
  • You will conduct thorough, fair, and objective workplace investigations related to employee complaints, grievances, or policy violations.
  • You will ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational policies while handling employee relations matters.
  • You will provide training and support to managers on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
  • You will foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous learning through intentional programming and initiatives.
  • You will lead diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts by designing and implementing initiatives that promote a welcoming workplace.
  • You will plan and execute engagement programs, including employee recognition, team-building activities, and wellness initiatives.
  • You will conduct and analyze employee satisfaction surveys to identify areas for improvement and implement action plans.
  • You will mediate employee relations issues and provide guidance to managers on best practices for conflict resolution.

 

Professional Development & Performance Management

  • You will assess organizational needs and create tailored learning and development programs that promote professional growth.
  • You will stablish performance evaluation frameworks, ensuring that feedback is clear, constructive, and aligned with company goals.
  • You will provide coaching and mentorship opportunities to empower employees and build leadership capacity.
  • You will implement supervision models grounded in inclusive leadership, fostering strong relationships and transparent communication.
  • You will further develop current career pathways and assess transfer and advancement opportunities to enhance employee retention and motivation.

 

Compliance, Metrics & Reporting:

  • You will ensure compliance with EEOC UNIFORM Guidelines, applicable laws, HR policies, funder requirements and best practices.
  • You will maintain confidentiality in HR matters and uphold high ethical standards.
  • You will use data and metrics to assess and improve effectiveness of P&C programs and initiatives through data-driven insights.
  • You will use key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate progress.
  • You will provide regular reports to the Chief of People & Culture on trends, employee satisfaction, and culture-related outcomes.
  • And other duties as assigned

  • Experience in grant-funded roles nonprofit talent acquisition, preferred
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with experience in building, growing and managing teams.

  • Dedicated at-home workspace for hybrid work model.
  • Intermediate proficiency within Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Google Docs and Zoom
  • Proficient in HRIS & ATS software, preferably Paycom
  • Computer savvy able to learn new applications and systems quickly
