Houston Habitat has built more than 1,200 homes in 12 Houston neighborhoods, including the Fifth Ward, Clinton Park, Settegast, Sunnyside, and Carverdale. In addition to building, the organization has also repaired homes throughout Houston due to natural disasters; since Hurricane Harvey Houston Habitat has repaired more than 700 homes for families who are without resources to make repairs.

Position Summary

The Sponsor Relations Officer creates, manages and implements fundraising strategies focused on support from corporations and organizations. This key member of the development team works to maintain existing donors and build new relationships with corporations and organizations to raise additional revenue while stewarding existing partnerships.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Manage donor relationships with corporations and organizations that support Houston Habitat

Identify, solicit, cultivate and grow contributions from a portfolio of new and existing donors to meet annual fundraising goals

Work collaboratively with donors, staff, and sponsor volunteers on build-site volunteering, home dedications, and other events

Effectively communicate the Houston Habitat story, mission, and needs, verbally and in writing

Collaborate with the Development team and other staff members to identify and enhance fundraising opportunities

Represent Houston Habitat at internal and external community and professional events

In consultation with the Assistant Development Director and Sponsor Relations Manager, annually establish personal goals, objectives, and strategies for fundraising, and regularly assess progress toward goals

Maintain complete and accurate records on the network and in the donor database

Work with the donor services specialist to ensure that all sponsor monetary donations, pledges, and / or in-kind commitments are properly documented and paid

Complete other duties and activities as assigned.

Requirements :

Education, Experience & Skills Required

2 - 3 years of nonprofit, fundraising, and / or sales experience;

Established fundraising success, raising no less than $250K / yr and achievement of budget goals

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to create and / or deliver compelling donor correspondence, proposals, presentations, and related materials

Must have the ability to set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Experience managing portfolios in CRMs such as Salesforce

The ability to complete work independently and as a team

The ability to adapt quickly to changing environments

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in business, nonprofit studies, or related field

Certification in fund development and / or nonprofit management

3-5 years experience within the greater Houston philanthropic community

Demonstrated success in closing gifts of $100K and above

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Technical Skills Required

Skilled in Salesforce NPSP or other donor management system

Proficient in working with the Microsoft Suite

Working knowledge of advanced search functions for donor research purposes

Physical Requirements

Ability to occasionally work outside traditional business hours, including some weekends and evenings.

Ability to work independently and to supervise others as needed

Must be able to perform essential functions of job. Reasonable accommodation is available.

Regular and frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions (hot, humid, rain, and cold).
