What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Salesperson- Part Time position at Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa?
Position Summary: Sales Associates ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes consistent greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining solid product knowledge about merchandise, protecting company assets, and providing all other aspects of customer service.
Responsible to: Store Manager
Customer Service
- Thorough knowledge of all services; special orders, tailoring, shipping, gift cards, embroidery, gift-wrap, personal shopping and follow up
- Maintains an awareness of all promotions and new arrivals
- Work outside the point of sale at all times when not servicing guests
- Utilizes store communication tool (email) daily to stay well informed for each guest/member and information being shared
- Ability to work with more than one guest at a time
- Drives brand loyalty by presenting an outstanding shopping experience that includes a neat, clean, sized and replenished floor
Sales
- Management of client database
- Determine needs of guests and make suggestions while providing product knowledge
- Study product features, current trends and benefits to promote multiple sales
- Knowledge and achievement of daily/monthly sales goals
- Complete customer transactions with speed and accuracy
Inventory Management
- Understand how inventory movement through sales and returns affect inventory accuracy
- Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise and monitoring floors, shelves & back stock
- Assist with markdowns as directed
- Participate in physical inventory counts
- Provide feedback on shop inventory, reorders, guest comments
- Oversee and authorize guest returns, exchanges, merchandise credits and discounts according to company policies and procedures
- Ensures compliance of company practices, policies and procedures for loss and how to address
- Knowledge in ability to correctly print merchandise tickets
Operations
- Complete knowledge of store(s) layout and purpose; sales floor, storage and back stock
- Maintain shop’s visual merchandising and housekeeping standards
- Participate in floor moves and training initiatives
- Performs any other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor
- Assures the completion of all POS transactions and the proper control of all media at the registers according to company policies and procedures
- Work to accomplish store’s daily/weekly to do list/opening/closing lists
- Utilize all tools and resources regarding operational excellence
Knowledge and Skills
(Level/Compensation based on experience, skills, competency and education)
- Prior retail sales experience and customer service experience preferred
- Retail knowledge and math skills
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the job
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Must have ability to work a flexible schedule
- Must be able to work weekends
- Must be able to work outside in elements
- Must have ability to process information/merchandise through POS register system
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Work Experience
- Demonstrates a culture in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion through development and modeling
- 5 years of guest experience (preferably luxury clothing) and a business/fashion/marketing degree is a major plus
- Hands on experience with POS/operation systems
- Exceptional communication and engagement skills
- Impeccable business ethics and professional integrity
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds on a consistent basis
- Must be able to push on wheeled dolly or transport device up to 50 lbs up an incline. Weight may change
- Must be able to bend and stoop on a regular basis
- Must be able to stand for long periods at a time
- Must be able to work in a safe manner, following safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to stand on a 6’ ladder
