General Responsibilities
- Assist with the set-up and takedown of interior and exterior events for the college which includes but is not limited to banners, signs, furniture, tables and chairs, stages and equipment
- Relocate assets as directed
- Assist in the performance of moving furniture to and from various locations on campus as well as HCC’s offsite campus such as Gateway and Laurel College Center
Work Performed
- Assist in the completion of scheduled moves to relocate furniture, equipment and college assets
- Maintain daily activities log to track tasks and other records as required
- Set up, take down and return tables/chairs to and from storage areas to various sites on and off campus as needed for events
- Perform periodic inventory and asset assessment of classroom and facility furniture
- Maintain proper furniture and seating arrangements in building lobbies, study areas, and stairwell landings
- Monitor and report when furniture is in need of repair or replacement
- Work under the direction of essential staff personnel to maintain snow and ice removal from paved surfaces
- Act in the role of essential personnel during emergencies

Other Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of OSHA Safety Regulations
- One year’s experience in venue/multi-purpose space set ups and furniture moving preferably at a college or university
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds 12 inches off the ground and place on flat bed cart
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds floor to overhead
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk ten feet
- Work inside and out in extremes of temperature, humidity and inclement weather
- Work in high places on ladders
- Work schedule is Monday – Friday, 5-days per week
- Must adhere to all safety standards as established by Facilities Services
- Many facets of job require physical strength and stamina to perform heavy tasks for long periods of time
- Work overtime as required
SOME OVERTIME IS REQUIRED. LEAVE APPROVAL MAY BE LIMITED DURING PEAK ACTIVITY PERIODS AND BLACK OUT DATES.

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor’s degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor’s degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor’s degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
