The Purchasing Lead is responsible for overseeing HRP’s purchasing team and managing all aspects of procurement, vendor relationships, and inventory strategy for assigned product lines. This role ensures purchasing objectives align with sales, wholesale and retail promotions, and marketing functions to maximize efficiency. The Purchasing Lead will also play a key role in mentoring and guiding other purchasing agents, ensuring best practices, and maintaining effective communication across departments.
In addition, the Purchasing Lead will participate in management meetings to provide strategic insights on inventory management, vendor performance, and purchasing efficiency, contributing to high-level decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support the purchasing team, ensuring smooth workflow and goal alignment.
- Establish and maintain win-win vendor relationships as supported by HRP business methods.
- Oversee replenishment purchasing for assigned product lines to meet established goals and metrics.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to avoid backorders, increase turnover, and reduce obsolete stock.
- Monitor and communicate vendor production schedules to key stakeholders, influencing production priorities.
- Maintain accurate PO information and product details in the FACTS system.
- Resolve vendor-related paperwork or payment discrepancies.
- Participate in management meetings to provide insights and recommendations on purchasing strategies.
- Other special tasks/projects as assigned by HRP leaders.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with Radio Control Hobby Products is a plus (but not required).
- Familiarity with FACTS system is helpful (but not required).
- Strong ability to communicate purchasing objectives across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
