Job Title: Front Desk Reservationist

Job Overview

Front Desk Team Members (FD) meet the needs of current and prospective guests by taking reservations and answering questions. The FD is also responsible for maintaining the appearance of the Lobby by merchandising and performing regular Lobby clean-up. The FD must perform clerical tasks such as ringing up sales, filing, and inventory. The FD Team physically works at Scotia Lodge and manages all reservations for Humboldt Social locations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain a welcoming, professional and safe environment for coworkers and guests.
  • Guide prospective guests through the reservation process for all Humboldt Social locations.
  • Process reservation changes, cancellations, refunds and payments, both in person and through our website.
  • Answer all inquiries about all Humboldt Social properties via phone, email and in person.
  • Make recommendations for local attractions to guests, including dining, dispensary, shopping, hikes and river destinations. Provide maps, preliminary phone contact, and other resources to guests.
  • Organize daily check-ins for a smooth guest experience.
  • Maintain clear communication with Housekeeping about guest needs and issues in the rooms by reporting guest concerns and ensuring that rooms are ready for checks-in
  • Welcome all guests with signature Humboldt Social amenities (infused water, warm towels, etc).
  • Offer upgrades to guests at check-in, including room upgrades and speciality packages.
  • Routinely check and spot-clean Lobby restrooms, retail areas, and seating areas.
  • Restocking retail and snack items sold in the Lobby.
  • Present a clean, professional appearance according to our Scotia Lodge Dress Code.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education
  • Collaborate and with Spa Food and Beverage, and Event staff on site to maintain a convenient and positive flow of guest experience.

Required Skills:

  • Computer literacy: Must be comfortable with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive, etc) and be able to learn to navigate our property management software and booking platforms such as Airbnb.
  • Customer service: Good phone skills, and a friendly, positive communication style.
  • Problem solving: Help guests answer a variety of questions and address problems such as lost key codes and emails, directions, and basic household functions.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Retail and/or service experience, including but not limited to boutique, food and beverage service and hospitality.
  • High level of critical thinking and the ability to multi-task and problem-solve under pressure.
  • Ability to work well in a team, as both a leader and a supporter.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express concerns and needs assertively.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • This job operates in multiple office/retail environments. It requires the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and climb stairs.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Hours *
20-30 hours per week. Weekend and Evening availability is required.

Compensation

Starting Pay $15 per hour. Paid Time off. Discounts at all Humboldt Social locations. Evaluation of pay after 6 months.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Hotel experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Shift availability:

  • Night Shift (Required)
  • Day Shift (Preferred)
