Huntington Bank is seeking a skilled and dynamic Business Segment External Communications Manager to lead the strategy and execution of media and external relations for its Consumer & Regional Banking business segment. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of consumer banking public relations spanning personal, business banking and wealth management, including developing external communication strategies, managing media relations, and cultivating relationships with reporters and key internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in corporate media and experience with the financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and execute the public relations strategy for Huntington’s personal, business and wealth lines of business, aligned with corporate and brand messaging.
• Drive proactive media campaigns, thought leadership, and external communications efforts to enhance the bank’s reputation and brand recognition.
• Secure media coverage for consumer banking initiatives, product launches, and corporate milestones.
• Provide counsel and guidance to senior leadership on media interviews and public relations opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key national and trade media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
• Manage media outreach, respond to media inquiries, and oversee press releases, statements, and other external communications.
• Collaborate with marketing, regional communications, and other internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment across all public-facing materials.
• Manage media databases, editorial calendars, and track campaign performance metrics.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications, preferably in the financial services or banking sector.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience in developing and executing strategic media relations programs and campaigns.
• Strong understanding of the media landscape, including the ability to identify opportunities for positive media coverage.
• Exceptional executive presence demonstrating confidence working alongside C-suite leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key media and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success working with PR firms and other PR-related vendors.
• Proven success at leveraging digital as well as traditional media.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for various audiences.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and digital PR strategies.
• Familiarity with media measurement tools and analytics.
