Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fabrication Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in manufacturing precision components for the aerospace industry. While in an air-conditioned and heated facility, you will be responsible for independently setting up and operating a variety of fabrication equipment and bellows equipment, ensuring the highest quality standards, and driving continuous improvement in our processes. Responsibilities:
- Independently execute aerospace-level operations and setups for a range of fabrication processes, including shearing, roll bending, roll planishing, bellows mechanical punch forming, convolution re-rolling, trimming, filler wire welding, resistance welding, and bellows press sizing.
- Expertly set up and perform seam welding on stainless steel and Inconel at thicknesses of 0.005” or less.
- Proactively stage materials and jobs for the next one or two operations to ensure efficient workflow.
- Regularly identify and implement solutions that lead to measurable improvements in key metrics such as inspection time, cycle time, setup time, scrap reduction, downtime, and rework.
- Consistently exceed expectations for safety, earned hours, setups, and scrap reduction, particularly with repetitive work on assigned equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- GTAW with filler less than .060”.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated expertise in the fabrication and welding processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and best practices.
- Experience within a quality system, preferrable AS9100.
- Current and valid weld certifications with over 3 years equivalent experience. Or five years of relevant experience in fabrication, with a demonstrated track record of success in seam welding or filler-wire assembly welding. Willingness to pursue weld certifications as needed.
Physical requirements
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk; sit, talk and hear, stand, use hands; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds, from multiple positions including sitting, kneeling, standing.
- Must be able to move safely in confined spaces, stepping over hoses, and pivoting around test equipment.
- Must be able to identify and respond to unsafe situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear (Safety Glasses, Face Shield, Gloves, Safety Boots) and Cleanroom attire (Cleanroom Gowns and Hairnet).
- Must be able to work on concrete floors.
- Must regularly reach overhead, reach at shoulder, reach at waist, pivot, and grasp.
- Must frequently walk, reach at knee, reach at floor, stoop, squat, twist, push / pull with arms, and perform fine motor movements.
- Must regularly stand, bend, crouch, kneel, stair climb.
- Must occasionally be exposed to loud noises.
- Must demonstrate the ability to lift/carry/push/pull 25 lbs, and manage in excess of 75 lbs.
