Overview
The Americorps Member plays a vital role in supporting community initiatives and enhancing the quality of life for residents through direct service and outreach programs. Members will engage in various projects aimed at addressing community needs, fostering civic engagement, and promoting social change.
This position would require a commitment of a minimum of 300 hours; amounting to approximately 10-15 hours per week from February 3rdth through July 31st, members would be required to serve the entire period.
The total stipend is $3,958; paid bi-weekly. Upon completion of service, member would receive and education award.
Required school year hours would be Monday-Friday from 9:45-noon (from Feb-May). Training/onboarding will be provided.
Required summer hours for 4 weeks (June-July) would increase and would be Monday-Friday 9am-2pm. Additional training/onboarding will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement mentoring/tutoring sessions for elementary aged students.
- Plan and implement summer learning SEL sessions for elementary aged students.
- Participate in community service projects that support local organizations and initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to plan, implement, and evaluate programs that address community challenges.
- Conduct outreach to engage community members and encourage participation in programs.
- Assist in organizing events, workshops, and training sessions to promote awareness and education.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, volunteer hours, and project outcomes.
- Develop relationships with community stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and enhance program effectiveness.
- Provide support to volunteers and assist in their training and development.
Experience
- Strong commitment to community service and social justice.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience in project management or event planning is a plus but not required.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.
- A background in education, social work, public health, or related fields is beneficial but not mandatory.
