Job Summary
The House Manager is responsible for supervising Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and providing hands-on care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in accordance with their Lifestyle Support Plan (LSP), Behavioral Support Plan (BSP), and medical care plan. This position will oversee home serving three individuals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Staff Leadership & Development
- Supervise, train, and support Direct Support Professionals in providing quality care
- Manage, coordinate, and monitor DSP performance to ensure goals outlined in LSPs and BSPs are met
- Identify employee training needs and ensure compliance with required certifications
- Conduct performance evaluations and maintain accurate records of staff performance
- Develop professional working relationships with all team members
Resident Support & Care
- Oversee the care, training, and supervision of residents
- Ensure all individuals' medical needs and plans are implemented properly and on time
- Develop supportive relationships with the individuals served
- Coordinate all contact with family members
- Participate actively in house meetings
Operational Management
- Ensure staff adherence to Company policies and procedures, as well as state regulatory requirements
- Manage on-site operations including facility maintenance, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with health and safety regulations
- Monitor and measure group home operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and proper resource management
- Oversee budget management and petty cash handling
- Maintain accurate records and reports on a daily basis
- Create and manage monthly staff schedules
- Coordinate with the management team for screening, placement, and intake of new residents
Emergency Response
- Carry a cell phone and laptop to coordinate emergency coverage
- Remain on-call as required to handle acute and critical situations
- Ability to intervene during crisis situations
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required
- 2-4 years of experience in direct care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
- Previous management and leadership experience strongly preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership, team building, and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings
- Skill in examining and improving operational procedures
- Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid U.S. driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Acceptable background check
- Active state-required training and certifications
- Must remain alert and attentive at all times
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to transfer residents with or without mechanical lifts
- Capability to twist, bend, stand, climb, and kneel as needed
- Ability to push wheelchairs and other mobility equipment
- Ability to prepare meals and perform housekeeping duties
- Ability to conduct evacuation drills and safety training
- In-person interaction is essential for this position
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
