Position Summary & Purpose
The Vice President (VP) of Accounting Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role involves managing financial reporting, general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance, and internal controls. The VP will work closely with senior leadership to develop financial strategies, streamline operations, and enhance financial processes to support business growth.

Positions’s Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The following are duties and responsibilities of the Vice President of Accounting Operations:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and accounting standards.
- Manage external audits and work closely with auditors to address any findings.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
- Accounting Operations & Process Improvement
- Lead and optimize general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury functions.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Establish and maintain best practices in financial operations and controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial closing, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor an accounting team, ensuring professional development and high performance.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing work culture.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, IT, and operations, to support strategic initiatives.
- Strategic Financial Planning
- Assist in the development of financial policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to senior management.
- Support mergers & acquisitions (M&A) due diligence and integration efforts as needed.
Education/Experience and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
- 10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
- Experience managing large accounting teams and multi-entity financial structures.
- Proven track record of optimizing financial processes and implementing automation.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) and financial software.
