Job Summary: ICON Builders is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project plans, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids. This role is essential in maintaining ICON Builders’ commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects within budget and on schedule.
This is a full-time on-site role at ICON Builders' Tempe, Arizona location.
Responsibilities:
Estimating & Preconstruction:
- Analyze project site, specifications, drawings, and project documents to develop accurate cost estimates meeting stakeholder requirements.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate a minimum of three (3) subcontractor bids per trade to ensure competitive pricing that meets project requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Develop and maintain cost databases for historical pricing and project benchmarking.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to refine budgets and proposals.
- Assist in preconstruction planning, feasibility studies, and budget development.
- Prepare bid proposal packages, in format required by stakeholders, including due diligence documentation, schedule, sequencing, scope allowances, alternates, exclusions and assumptions.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with project management and field teams to ensure seamless handoff from estimation to execution.
- Communicate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Support the business development team with cost modeling for potential projects.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain insight on project requirements.
- Organize site walks with subcontractor and vendors as necessary to ensure accurate pricing.
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documents.
- Provide updated reporting to leadership on project status, bid trend analysis, and potential material and labor delays and shortages.
Process Improvement & Technology:
- Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and labor rates.
- Utilize estimating software and digital tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Continuously refine estimating procedures and processes to enhance ICON Builders’ competitiveness.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills

- Understanding of building codes and regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, related field or equivalent training
