Position Overview
Under direction of the Background Investigation Unit Manager for the Division of Internal Investigation, and in accordance with a wide variety of specialized and standard departmental, division, and office policies, performs complex, specialized and technical clerical/keyboarding support functions for the Division of Internal Investigation. Prepares highly confidential documents from a variety of designated sources in support of the Background Investigation Unit and Identified Offender Program. Requires an extensive knowledge of computerized word processing and spreadsheet applications. Requires basic knowledge of state purchasing/procurement guidelines.

Essential Functions
- Keyboards highly confidential and complex investigative materials related to investigations, risk assessments, and background inquiries on new employees and applicants of the state agencies/boards/commissions subject to the governor's authority.
- Prepares invoices/billings and orders supplies.
- Serves as timekeeper for code employees.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college; OR completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience, OR two (2) years of independent business experience.
- Requires skill in keyboarding accurately at 30 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefers extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures and programs with two (2) years of experience.
Prefers extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation with two (2) years of experience.
Prefers working knowledge of the Microsoft computer programs with two (2) years of experience.
Prefers ability to follow oral or written instructions with two (2) years of experience.
Prefers ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance with two (2) years of experience.
Conditions of Employement
- Requires successful completion of an ISP background check.
- Must receive a negative drug screening.
