The Human Resources Generalist will support the HR department in providing exceptional human resources services to managers and employees. The incumbent manages and executes all recruiting and selection activities, serves as an advisor to managers and employees on employee relations, performance management, talent management and total rewards issues. A high degree of diplomacy, tact and professionalism is required. CUSTOMER SERVICE This position provides internal and external customer service. The incumbent must represent the Human Resources organization professionally by providing accurate information in a prompt courteous manner. Special Schedule Requirements N / A Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree preferred or 3-5 years of related human resources experience required. Experience in Banner, People Admin, or work in higher-ed preferred but not required. Knowledge & Skills Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to make sound, unbiased decisions based on the information presented; ability to establish credibility and develop and maintain relationships with managers and employees; ability to work independently, conceptualize and draw conclusions based on previous experiences; ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues; ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or law; ability to organize and prioritize work. SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY Not required to supervise others. Not required to provide budget authority. Physical Environment and Requirements Working in an office environment. N / A Key Responsibilities Key Responsibility Provides counsel to managers and employees on employee and / or labor relations issues to include : coaching, counseling, discipline and termination and performance management. Investigates problems such as working conditions, disciplinary actions and employee appeals and grievances. Provides guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to department managers. Conducts exit interviews with separating employees and makes recommendations to HR and departmental management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. Percentage Of Time 45 Key Responsibility Manages and executes all recruiting activities to include : job scoping, assisting in crafting job descriptions and job postings, screening resumes, as needed, conferring with and advising managers on selection decisions, extending job offers and assisting with the on-boarding process. Serves as the key contact for the talent management system in providing assistance in position control and general understanding of navigating the system.
