Account Manager – Employee Benefits

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

• Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values


• Values and understands the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion among all IMA associates


• Client service


• Maintains regular, professional contact to create and foster relationships with client representatives


• Researches and resolves issues and requests in a timely manner – including issues that require direct interactions


• Answers questions related to benefits program


• Works to provide guidance on various federal and state regulations including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA and 5500s


• Client meetings


• Assists in and prepares materials and collateral for meetings and discussions


• Actively participates in discussions


• Records and reports meeting discussions (and scheduled client phone calls) and action items


• Carrier and vendor management


• Oversees new vendor/carrier implementations


• Management of the renewal process with each carrier, submitting RFP, reviewing all proposals for accuracy, and assisting with presentation of marketing results


• Maintains regular contact with carrier and vendor representatives to ensure client advocacy and that issues are being resolved in a timely manner


• Communication and education


• Works with client to develop short and long-term employee communication objectives


• Works with marketing department to create member facing collateral pieces to promote and clarify benefit program features

• Conduct Open Enrollment meetings, both in person as well as telephonic/virtual to educate and provide plan details to employees


• Prepare Open Enrollment presentations

• Internal partnerships


• Actively participates and contributes to client experience team operations


• Effectively communicates client updates to appropriate team members


• Assists with other team duties as needed – i.e., position vacancy, cover personal time off, etc.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS include but are not limited to:

• Attains and maintains state life and health license


• 3 - 4 or more years of relevant experience


• Well versed in MS office skills (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel)


• Ability to learn and work in agency/client management systems and other related software and technology platforms


• Ability to work independently and proactively


• Excellent interpersonal communication skills – written and oral – with the ability to articulate ideas and information in a clear and concise manner


• Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving


• Ability to present information in a group setting (in person and virtually)


• Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects with variable deadlines


• Possesses high degree of diplomacy and tact while maintaining confidentially
