State Team Defensive Coordinator, Football

Position Overview: IMG Academy is seeking a State Team Defensive Coordinator to lead the defensive unit for our State Team. This role requires a highly motivated and experienced coach with a strong background in defensive strategy, player development, and leadership. The Defensive Coordinator will implement a defensive system that aligns with IMG Academy’s philosophy, emphasizing technical excellence, player growth, and team success. Key Responsibilities: Defensive Scheme & Strategy: Develop and implement an effective defensive scheme tailored to the strengths of the roster. Game Planning & Execution: Analyze opponent tendencies and create weekly game plans to prepare for competition. Player Development: Teach defensive fundamentals, position-specific techniques, and in-game adjustments. Film Breakdown & Scouting: Evaluate team and opponent film to enhance performance and strategy. Recruiting & College Placement: Assist with athlete recruitment and help student-athletes navigate the college recruiting process. Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Coach, offensive staff, and special teams coach to ensure team cohesion. Leadership & Culture Building: Foster a competitive and positive culture focused on accountability, discipline, and teamwork. Practice & Game Management: Organize and lead defensive practice sessions, ensuring structured and high-energy drills. Mentorship: Support and mentor athletes in their athletic and personal development. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 3 years of defensive coaching experience at the high school, college, or professional level. Experience coordinating a defensive unit and developing players at multiple positions. Strong knowledge of defensive schemes, film breakdown, and game strategy. Proven ability to develop and mentor student-athletes on and off the field. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Recruiting experience and connections within the football community are a plus.
