SUMMARY
The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for recording the cost of fixed assets and lease liabilities, tracking and reporting fixed assets and related transactions, recording depreciation and amortization, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets and lease terminations.
JOB DUTIES:
- Obtain approvals for purchases of fixed assets and monitor, document, and report capital expenditures.
- Report to management any deviations from accounting policies related to fixed assets.
- Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions to the asset subledger.
- Record new leases and lease extinguishments to the lease subledger.
- Work with management to track project costs and capex and report budget variances
- Reconcile the balances in the fixed asset and lease liability subledgers to the general ledger monthly.
- Calculate and record depreciation and amortization monthly for all fixed assets and leases.
- Maintain a detailed schedule of fixed assets, disposals, additions, depreciation expense and accumulated depreciation.
- Reconcile rolling stock on the fixed asset subledger with Fleet records on a regular basis and report differences to management.
- Prepare and provide reports related to fixed assets and leases as requested by management and auditors.
- Monitor lease deposits and lease terms and manage lease terminations.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:
- 2 years of fixed asset accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
- 1 years of LeaseQuery and NetAsset experience preferred.
- 1 years of NetSuite experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Must be meticulous.
