The Business Development Manager is the first point of contact a new potential client will have with the business when they are seeking information on the products and services the company provides.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop knowledge of Masterpiece International transportation products, services, and rates.
  • Using provided and independently secured leads, make cold calls resulting in scheduled face-to- face sales calls.
  • Perform outside sales, two days weekly, checking in with your manager several times a day.
  • Support sales efforts on local and regional basis.
  • Act as first point-of-contact for client inquiries and rate/information requests.
  • Provide lead generation and new business development.
  • Draft and finalize rate quotations, proposals, and RFQs, and track quotations and client requirements.
  • Create and maintain relations with Freight Agents and Masterpiece staff.
  • Working with appropriate internal resources, collaborate on marketing strategies and territory and coverage plans for new and existing business.
  • Organize rates received from Agents and provide central location for sales to go to with rate request.
  • Attend and provide sales at Industry conferences as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of systems including CargoWise, Outlook, Word, and Excel, as applicable.
  • Participate in conferences, meetings, and training courses as applicable.
  • Comply with all Masterpiece policies and procedures.
  • Maintain customer relationships and ensuring customer loyalty through excellent customer service as well as meeting all client needs appropriate to their business.
  • Procurement of rates with all vendors to optimize profit and ensure the best customer service experience to all of our customers.
  • Take incoming phone calls/emails and respond to issues quickly and accurately per company policy.
  • Keep Manager informed of workload and any problems as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field.
  • Experience in sales, marketing or related field.
  • Strong communication skills and IT fluency.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive and handle uncertatainty.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
