Summary
The Membership and Partnerships Associate works across the Membership and Partnerships teams to provides critical administrative and data management support for our overlapping constituencies. The incumbent will work closely with the two departments to drive day-to-day administrative functions, ensure constituent data is updated regularly and well-maintained, and interact with donors and members to provide excellent customer service. The incumbent will play a significant role in ensuring the membership and partnership teams are positioned to grow a robust membership pipeline and increase our fundraising footprint in a thoughtful way. IS operates a hybrid model (3 days in the office/2 days remote).
Essential Job Functions
Provide critical support for the Membership Team:
- Onboard new members with follow-up telephone calls, e-mail messages and/or mailings.
- Update salesforce database with new and renewed member information from member payments.
- Accurately and efficiently process member transactions, including the opening of new memberships/accounts in a courteous, discreet, and professional manner.
- Respond to members' concerns via telephone, e-mail, and in writing.
- Contact past-due members regarding potential expiration of membership.
- Assist in conducting outreach to lapsed or at-risk members to encourage renewal and engagement.
- Assist with preparing membership reports.
Provide support to the Partnerships team:
- Maintains and updates systems to track donor data and projected/secured revenue.
- Processes all donor and sponsor acknowledgements.
- Maintains partnership funder and prospect records.
- Produces routine reports on received gifts and pledges against established projections.
- Creates agendas, take notes, and track action items and deadlines from regular meetings.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's in business administration, nonprofit management, or related plus at least 1-3 years of experience in donor and/or member relations.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey the organization's mission, impact, and opportunities to different audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, including active listening and the ability to navigate complex conversations with diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle competing priorities.
- Solid experience with Microsoft office and customer relationship management (CRM) software, Salesforce experience preferred.
- Awareness of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) impact on social change work, and willingness to integrate in professional development and programmatic work.
- Experience in retail or financial services a plus.
- Experience with a nonprofit membership organization a plus.
- Ability to embed IS' organizational values into day-to-day work.
Work Environment:

Salary : $53,000 - $65,000
