Job Summary: KPHC is seeking one full-time IT Specialist to work at the Santo Domingo Health Center. Santo Domingo Health Center operation hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Position Details: This position services as the primary point of contact to evaluate, install, troubleshoot and administer database software and hardware needed to support applications programmed for the Health Center. Salary Range: $65,492.24 - $98,238.36 Open Period: Until Filled Position Information: Full Time Qualifications: Minimum Mandatory Qualifications: Experience:
• Minimum of three years experience in planning, management and coordination of database operational and support systems
• One year of specialized experience. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary focus is IT. Specialized experience includes installing, implementing, troubleshooting arrays of Microsoft Windows or UNIX platforms; analyzing or coordinating data storage requirements, determining relevant hardware, software, connectivity requirements, and information flow; and identifying technical requirements of end-users, tests and interpreting functionality of health-related hardware and software. Education: - Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Specific IT experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
• Specialized knowledge of RPMS systems and their operation on a variety of operating systems including AIX, and Windows Server platforms as well as modifications to RPMS systems using Cache' and Ensemble software.
• Knowledge of system software evaluation and design methods to perform studies in order to advise management on needed system software and to translate requirements into programming specifications for other program support staff to implement. Skill at modification and adaptation of precedent system software approaches to provide for specialized requirements of new software packages.
• Knowledge of current states of system software technology, standards, policies, and programs to evaluate alternative system software packages and advise on their use and/or acquisition.
• Knowledge of structure and work processes involved in other subsystems (e.g., provisioning, requirements, procurement) so as to recognize probable conflicts. Skill at relating aspects and parts of a project to the overall needs of the organization in order to guide management's efforts in accomplishing projects. Knowledge of standard practices employed by applications programmers in order to anticipate programming difficulties in alternate design strategies.
• Specialized knowledge of MUMPS programming language and LINUX operating system suitable to be able to modify existing computer programs or to make technical recommendations for program modification to system programmers.
• Knowledge of the current policies and standards relating to teleprocessing knowledge of computer equipment, evaluation techniques, and knowledge of the missions and functions of the major entities within the Santo Domingo Health Center to assist Management in advising on the merits of proposed teleprocessing hardware configurations and developing guidance on teleprocessing matters in relationship to the RPMS and EHR systems.
• Ability to apply techniques of systems analysis and general systems, planning and management theory to development and operation of complex, information systems.
• Knowledge of current state-of-the-art network equipment and software, TCP/IP, LAN technologies and analysis techniques combined with knowledge of the specific characteristics of LAN systems hardware and software in order to gather data relevant to network design, implementation, maintenance and operations.
• Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and administration, Microsoft Windows 98 Office Suite products and Microsoft Exchange.
• Knowledge of Computer Security Act of 1987 and the Privacy Act of 1974 for use in utilizing good computer security practices.
• Ability to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds in a courteous and professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Skilled in organizing and establishing priorities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Skills in the provision of technical advice, operational support and training on local area network hardware and software application.
• Knowledge of necessary or required maintenance of software and peripheral hardware.
• A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
