Job Summary

Advance your career in higher education finance as a Financial Analyst with IU Bloomington's FAB.   • Supports the financial health and strategic initiatives of a leading research university through detailed financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Contributes to initiatives that improve operational efficiency and align with the university's long-term goals and mission.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment to influence data-driven decision-making.
  • Provides insights and recommendations based on financial data to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Develops and maintains accurate financial reports to ensure transparency and accountability in budgeting processes.
  • Gains professional growth opportunities while working in a supportive and collaborative higher education setting.

General Responsibilities

  • Performs detailed periodic fiscal analysis of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows and compiles trends to guide financial decisions.
  • Provides specialized financial analysis support using measures such as past financial performance, economic conditions, price, yield, stability, and investment risk.
  • Interprets fiscal policies and acts as a resource to department; may provide guidance to lower-level employees
  • May serve as fiscal delegate for department accounts.
  • Presents findings using tools such as spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and technical reports.
  • Verifies accuracy of data and makes recommendations for corrections.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION

    Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Preferred

  • Mater's degree in related field
  • WORK EXPERIENCE

    Required

  • 2 years in finance, financial administration, accounting, or related field
  • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

    Preferred

  • CPA, CMA, FPAC, FMVA, or similar certification (completed or in progress).
  • SKILLS

    Required

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Demonstrates analytical skills
  • Articulate and responsive to colleagues
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
  • Performs work independently with minimal supervision

  • Working Conditions / Demands

    This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

    This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between 2 remote workdays and 3 in-person workdays), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
