OVERVIEW

The focus of this job is on achieving results which are aligned with the larger picture of the organization and its strategic goals. Initiative, coupled with a sense of competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job. The job requires getting things done quickly and handling a variety of activities. Self-assurance, and the confidence to purposely drive toward results while constantly problem-solving and engaging the commitment of others is essential. The emphasis on building rapport and relationships with individuals and groups requires an outgoing, poised, and persuasive communication style. Because the pace of the work is faster than average, the ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions is critical.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans for learning and development, including identifying training needs, and developing training programs to address them.
  • Action-oriented and somewhat collaborative decision-making.
  • Results focus on Idea generation, innovative and creative problem-solving rapport and relationship building focused on achieving results and engaging in the commitment of others.
  • Extroverted, confident, enthusiastic, persuasive influences, stimulates others to act collaboration.
  • Design, Develop and create training materials as well as providing training services to employees to ensure they are meeting their job requirements.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.
  • Delegation of details as necessary, with follow-up on timeliness and quality.
  • Quick decision making in response to changing conditions.
  • Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment.
  • Administers spending against the departmental budget.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership to develop training programs in areas such as leadership development and conflict resolution, and organizational learning and Development.
  • Directive leadership to ensure business results are achieved.
  • Providing guidance and counseling to employees on personal development issues related to career planning and goal setting.
  • Lead, manage and conduct performance reviews to evaluate employee performance and recommend ways to improve performance where needed.
  • Managing employee performance through coaching, counseling, training, and discipline when necessary.
  • Supporting organizational culture through learning and development and communication strategies that align with company values.
  • Developing and implementing a succession plan for key positions in the organization, including identifying future leaders and creating development plans for them.
  • Trains and coaches’ managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts.
  • Reviewing new technologies for training applications and recommending effective uses to leadership.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May potentially supervise one or more positions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, training, and directing the work of others.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

B.A/B.S. degree and a minimum of (5) five years Learning and Development experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various reporting, Masters degree and/or professional certifications is preferred, but not required.

ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must have facilitated classes or been an instructor having taught on ground and (online Optional). Must be able to communicate diplomatically and enthusiastically with a diverse group of staff, members, and guests. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, customers, and/or the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate mathematical figures and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to analyze compensation numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of human resource practices, including training skills, ability to review training methodology, training manuals, design and develop curriculum. Ability to handle employee relations, understanding of human resource legal aspects and safety regulations, and ability to develop and implement policies. Organizational, analytical, and managerial skills. Excellent computer skills. Proven ability to foster partnerships with other departments and work well in a team based environment. Not-for-profit experience is desirable, but not required. Prior responsibility formulating and monitoring budgets.
