Summary: Responsible for analyzing MRO requests and purchasing materials to ensure company meets production schedules. Understand role of MRP buyers and assist in procurement responsibilities as required. Buyer must collaborate closely with personnel from all departments to ensure materials are procured and manufactured for timely delivery to exceed customer expectations. The Buyer must communicate closely with the other procurement and logistics personnel to prevent supply chain interruptions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze assigned MRO MRP for the purpose of procurement of materials needed for capital expenditures, manufacturing, repairs, and operations purposes.
- Place and manage purchase orders with suppliers; work closely with logistics personnel to arrange transportation of materials.
- Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Accurately track and expedite purchases, collaborate directly with suppliers, carriers, and logistics personnel to ensure on time delivery for the purpose of maintaining proper flow of production and delivery to customers.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders such as production, sales, maintenance, and warehouse staff in written and oral form regarding delivery dates, pricing, product availability.
- Maintain Master Data and ERP / MRP-related information.
- Prepare shipping documents including dispatch reports, bills of lading, shipping labels.
- Maintain manual and electronic supplier files to include supplier pricing and contact files.
- Provides administrative support, which may include preparing quotes and miscellaneous correspondence as needed.
- Resolve issues and disputes with suppliers regarding delivery, quality, or other concerns.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Chemical Industry knowledge preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build effective supplier relationships.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, verbal, and written skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
