Paralegal – Defense Litigation

A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced defense litigation paralegal to join their team in Scranton, PA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical malpractice, general liability, and professional liability cases. The role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently, while also contributing as part of a collaborative legal team.

Responsibilities

• Handle defense litigation cases from inception through trial.
• Review, analyze, and summarize medical records.
• Assist with trial preparation.
• Manage case deadlines and ensure all court filings are completed timely.
• Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, experts, and team members.
• Conduct legal research using Lexis (preferred).
• Maintain accurate and timely billing records.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite for drafting and document management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in defense litigation, particularly in medical malpractice, general liability, and professional liability.
• Strong understanding of Pennsylvania law.
• Familiarity with billing procedures and time entry requirements.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Lexis for legal research is a plus.
• Certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved program or a bachelor's degree required.
• Trial preparation experience preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
