The Operations Manager-Print Production is responsible for all label printing manufacturing processes and would be located on-site at the Inland manufacturing facility located in La Crosse, WI production facility where a competitive relocation package would be offered for the right individual. This position would be responsible for optimizing the overall efficiency of Operations while managing Press department processes in a safe and efficient manner to meet quality expectations that result in total customer satisfaction.
The Operations Manager-Print Production focuses on driving improvements throughout all operations to ensure key safety, quality, and production metrics and initiatives are achieved. This role will lead and guide front-line Production Supervisors specifically on process and project management to ensure their focus is on driving results through continuous improvement. This position will also collaborate with Pre-Press, P&IC, Quality, Engineering/R&D, Maintenance, Sales, and Customer Account Management to deliver on Operational goals and targets, such as Run/Up-Time %, Waste %, Labor, Safety, and Quality.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Alignment, Leadership, Partnerships and Continuous Improvement:
- Airport Road, La Crosse, WI label print production P L responsibility
- Manages the day-to-day printing production environment, establishes, and executes plans to meet or exceed predetermined targets
- Participates in the daily production meetings and delivers outcomes of these meetings to employees
- Implements and supports measurements and actions to reduce overall operational costs with a focus on print functions
- Leads efforts in key focus areas of safety, quality, and productivity (SQP), including print production efficiencies, cost improvements, safety & environment, and team member engagement to achieve or exceed targeted performance levels
- Implements strategic initiatives designed to drive and improvement throughput to meet and exceed annual plans
- Drives the company's continuous improvement goals and guides the Production Supervisors in effectively prioritizing the improvement activities in their areas.
- Creates and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external company vendors and partners.
- Reviews safety, quality, performance, and financial data to establish goals and plans for improvement.
- Works alongside Maintenance to research and recommend equipment improvements or replacements.
- Participates in new customer onboarding meetings internally and externally. Provides insight and direction as required and reports production, design or quality concerns to plant management and Sales
- Establishes measurable actions for self and/or their team to accomplish department specific goals
Safety and Quality:
- Champions safety efforts resulting in superior performance by developing and maintaining an environment of safe work practices and initiative-taking approaches to safety management.
- Establishes, supports, and promotes the corrective action and continuous improvement systems
- Trains staff on the use of RCA and CA tools to drive improvement in areas of need
- Establish plans for consistency through implementation and sustainment of standard work practices
- Ensures the proper supplies, tools, work instructions and equipment are available for all team members
Employee Performance, Development, and Training:
- Manages personnel in a manner that creates positive morale, encourages initiative, and promotes opportunities
- Mentor, guide and grow Production Supervisors and Team Leaders into progressive managers who engage employees to make timely and confident decisions, improve efficiencies, and support and implement production improvements

- Manage personnel issues with HR, Production Supervisors and Team Leaders as required

Essential skills and experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing setting with ability to show growth in role and responsibilities over those 5 years

- Ability to deliver multiple projects to completion using strong project management skills

Nonessential skills and experience:
- Preferred, but not required post-secondary education in Operational Management, Business or Engineering (2 year, Bachelors, or Masters)
- Knowledge of packaging/packaging print production
- PMP Certification
Required Work Schedule:
- Typically works daytime hours, but will be required to work some evening and weekend hours in certain occasions as this location operates 24/7 – 5% of overall time
- Travel and overnight trips may happen on occasion
