The Controller will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and budget management for the company. You will supervise a team of two direct reports and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry regulations. This position will require strong leadership skills, an analytical mindset, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles.
Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance and support to two direct reports.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company’s general ledger, financial data, and reporting.
- Manage the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with internally developed procedures, budgets and guidelines.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of all aspects of the company’s payroll through a 3rd party payroll provider.
- Coordinate and manage the company’s external financial review & tax filing processes through an outside CPA firm.
- Review and improve internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist senior management with financial modeling, cost analysis, and business performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement financial reporting tools to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve financial performance.
Critical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and problem-solving.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of financial modeling, cost accounting, and performance metrics
