Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to manage and oversee all financial aspects of our organization. This role will play a key part in maintaining financial integrity, improving processes, and supporting strategic decision-making as we continue to grow. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing insightful financial analysis to guide the company's financial health with the overall goal of helping support exceed in financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee and manage the accounting of inventory, both domestically and internationally, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of raw materials, finished goods, and compounded ingredients.
- Coordinate with the supply chain and production teams to ensure the accurate movement of inventory across locations, including warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers.
- Perform regular inventory reconciliations to ensure consistency between financial records and physical inventory.
- Work closely with the procurement and operations teams to ensure that all compounded ingredients and raw materials are properly tracked, documented, and accounted for.
- Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems for the company's inventory, including direct and indirect costs associated with raw materials, production, and storage of compounded ingredients.
- Analyze inventory costs to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Support product pricing strategies by providing accurate cost data, including the impact of ingredient sourcing, production, and distribution.
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Ensure the accuracy of financial statements, particularly related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Work with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory and cost management.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insights and recommendations based on inventory and ingredient cost analysis.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations domestically and internationally and oversee the preparation of tax filings.
- International Inventory Management:
- Manage the complexities of international inventory, including the proper accounting for imported raw materials and products, customs duties, taxes, and compliance with local regulations.
- Collaborate with international supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of overseas inventory levels and financial impacts.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline inventory management processes, enhance data accuracy, and improve internal controls.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement best practices for inventory tracking, reporting, and financial controls.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Collaborate with operations, marketing, and production teams to ensure seamless communication and accurate financial reporting.
- Lead a small team of overseas accountants, providing guidance and support as necessary.
- Assist with the development of long-term financial strategies, supporting company growth and expansion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Masters degree, preferred.
- 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a controller role, preferably within the supplement, health, or manufacturing industry.
- Strong experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting, with specific expertise in the management of raw materials, finished goods, and compounded ingredients.
- Experience with international inventory management, including import/export regulations and customs duties.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Suite; experience with inventory management systems a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
