What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Planner position at InsideHigherEd?
As an events planner, you will plan conferences and community events. You will manage event coordination and implementation for simultaneous projects throughout the calendar year in any given city or state. You will meet with the assistant director of events to receive and provide updates on all assignments; create unique ideas, concepts, and décor models; and maintain photo archives and supply inventories. In preparation for events, you will lead and attend all meetings, communicate SCAD standard expectations to clients, and develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
In this role, you will ensure appropriate marketing and public relations are completed for each event, including requests for proposals for vendors, quotes, and estimates. You will coordinate all print, visual, social media, and web-related requests, develop ideas for gifts and giveaways, and source all décor. You will also promptly complete all financial paperwork, such as purchase requisitions and employer classification forms for all vendors. Additionally, you will research and reserve entertainment for events and oversee their completion.
Among other duties, you will also work with physical resources to coordinate space reservations, housekeeping, grounds, transportation, and security needs. You will work with the appropriate city departments to request a police presence and ensure all city ordinances are abided by. Your responsibilities will also include paperwork, permit and temporary licensing submission, volunteer management, and ensuring quality guest interactions as an event host.

Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work outside office hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
- Five years of relevant professional experience in events or conference coordination (in-person and virtual)

Work Hours : The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and / or hours, including weekends and evenings.
