Job Description:
Insight Planning & Development is seeking a self-motivated, innovative, solution-focused Planner who will be required to function with a high degree of independence, utilize sound professional judgment, and demonstrate planning and organizational skills to establish and manage priorities. This position will be responsible for assisting with contracted planning services; development services; CAMA and comprehensive land use plan development and updates; and ordinance development and updates. The planner shall be able to demonstrate effective collaboration skills; ability to allocate resources effectively; ease in producing/delivering public presentations; sound decision-making; personal accountability; and will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of planning, zoning, and land use principals to include, but not limited to, the interpretation and implementation of laws, codes, rules, and regulations. The planner will have a general knowledge and understanding of GIS principles and associated software. The planner will be skilled in providing positive, solution-based, and effective customer service as well as promoting a culture of teamwork within the organization and with clients.
Candidate Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, public or business administration, urban policy, political science, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or a closely related field.
· A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible planning experience including administration and zoning in local government and/or consulting.
· AICP and CFM certification preferred or ability to obtain certifications within two years.
Additional Requirements:
· Valid driver’s license.
· Some overnight travel.
· Attendance at evening/night meetings.

· Salary range: $55,000 to $75,000.
