Position Summary:
As Engineering Support, you will work with a safety-first team to support our Technical Services team by participating in assigned projects related to Cathodic Protection and Pipeline Integrity. Position title may be one of the following based on specific candidate qualifications: Engineer, Technician, Project Support Specialist,
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supports subject matter experts by gathering, analyzing and reporting on data collected in the field.
- Organizing project information and communicating with Tech Services team members to keep project progress on track.
- Collects data in the field to support customer needs.
- Performs Direct Assessment related tasks such as Pre-Assessment, data integration, and reporting.
- Support cathodic protection design projects with design calculations and drawings.
- Provides technical support to CP Techs as required.
- Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
- Communicates with management and crew to effectively present project needs and changes.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to adhere to a written method or procedure.
- Confidence to STOP work immediately when a safety issue is identified.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products.
- Ability to understand and work within simple GIS models and electronic field data collection platforms.
- Create electronic profile and plan view drawings for simple designs.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write complex and detailed correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Comfortable with mathematical calculations.
- Good safety driving skills is important.
Management Responsibilities:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications):
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering or engineering technologist disciplines or physical science such as physics, chemistry or geology. Candidates with GIS or other special data management skills will also be considered.
- No experience necessary, training will be provided.
- Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate machines and instruments safely.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in extreme temperatures and weather. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to high.
Other Considerations/Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically, often on short notice, and occasionally for extended periods of time.
- Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- This position requires overtime/weekend work occasionally.
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time.
