What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Voltage Site Apprentice (Entry Level) position at Intelligrated Communications, Inc.?
General Purpose
The Low Voltage Site Apprentice is responsible for following the direction of the Site Foreman and to assist the Site Foreman and Journeymen to perform the installation of wiring, devices etc. related to our scope of work. Apprentice may ask questions and is encouraged to learn from Journeymen and Site Foreman, but they must take direction from the SF and Journeymen.
Role and Responsibilities
· Performs assignments as assigned or required by management.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· High school diploma or GED.
· Must be able to follow instructions.
· Must have knowledge of occupational hazards and standard ability to read wiring diagrams and construction drawings.
· Must be able to perform skilled work safely and proficiently using a variety of hand tools and power equipment associated with the installation and repair of low voltage electrical systems.
· Must have the ability to carry out the safety rules and policies established by the department.
· Must have the ability to communicate in both oral and written English.
Working Conditions
· Duties are performed indoors, estimated at 75%.
· Indoor duties are performed may not be temperature-controlled environment; however, worker is exposed to natural weather conditions while working outdoors 25% of the time.
· Outdoor surfaces include natural ground, concrete, asphalt, ramps, stairs, or decks.
· Employee may be exposed to snow, wind, possible lightning, and extreme cold and heat.
· Employee may be exposed to high voltage (maximum than 120 volts) during inspections, safety checks, maintenance, and repair when the circuit must remain energized. Technician must follow safety procedures while working on energized equipment.
· Work may include those of a correctional facility environment with exposure to noise and dangerous situations that could involve serious bodily injury and other health hazards.
Equipment, Tools, and Materials
· Employee handles writing utensils, various paperwork, files and reports in the documentation of work.
· Employee may operate a Company vehicle.
· Employees must possess various hand tools including but not limited to screwdrivers, cutters, strippers, diagonal cutters, a multi-meter, toner and probe, butt set, cordless drill, level, flashlight, crimper tools.
· Employee handles ladders, scaffolds, drills, hand tools, pipe benders, saws, aerial lift truck, hydraulic lift truck, personnel lift, portable generator etc.
· Employee operates two-way radio and safety equipment, including eyewear, safety shoes, hard hats, fire extinguishers, first aid kits etc. Lockout/Tagout and other related safety procedures.
