What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Food Bank Assistant position at Interfaith Community Services?
The Mobile Food Bank Assistant is a part of the ICS Food Distribution Team and provides leadership to the Mobile Food Bank distributions and assistance to other ICS Food Bank programs including the NW Food Bank and Produce Giveaways. This position is located at our East Side office at 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail.
Under the general direction of the Mobile Food Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for all operations related to ICS’s Mobile Food Bank including driving the Mobile Food Bank truck, loading and unloading products needed for distribution, setting up for distribution, overseeing and managing distribution, managing volunteers during distribution, and completing required paperwork and reporting.

Mobile Food Bank Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise Food distribution at multiple ICS Mobile Food Bank distribution locations
- Loading and unloading Mobile Food Bank for distribution locations
- Set up and break down of distribution sites
- Participate in distribution sites
- Request and train new volunteers when needed
- Help schedule volunteers, as needed, for Mobile Food Bank
- Submit monthly reports to Program Coordinator
Food Distribution Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in deliveries and opening/closing procedures of ICS Food Banks
- Assist with grocery store pickups
- Help schedule volunteers, as needed, on food distribution shifts
- Coordinate client eligibility and intake process. This includes operating the client’s check-in computer when needed
- Driving the Mobile Food Bank Truck to regular scheduled distributions and special events when needed
Additional Duties:
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Attend ICS Board and Council meetings when requested
- Participate in additional training when requested
- Participate in ICS volunteer recruitment and recognition, fundraising, newsletter article writing, and other agency projects as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous driving experience preferred
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds
- Must pass a background check
- Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license and current automobile insurance
- Must obtain fingerprint card
- Good working knowledge of a wide range of community organizations with food banks/pantries
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written skills; proficient with Microsoft Office software
- Bilingual, Spanish and English preferred
- Previous work with volunteers preferred
