Description
The Freight Buyer is responsible for maintaining relationships with freight carriers and negotiating freight rates for all domestic and international shipments.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain relationships with freight carriers in order to support our logistics needs with respect to shipping our product to our customers all over the US, for shipping products
- Contact and negotiate with carriers to obtain quotes and services. Identify new shipping carriers to fulfill our needs.
- Communicate frequently with Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics departments in order to understand customers’ expectations related to shipments of products.
- Study the different means of transportation available for the freight, offering various solutions to internal logistics departments in order to meet all company transportation needs
- Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity tariff and customs regulations
- Resolve all issues related with transportation and carriers, working heavily with AP department in the research and resolution of any discrepancies.
- Manage in SAP all information related to transportation as quotes, carrier information, etc.
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of related experience working in a transportation function/freight brokerage.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability and desire to work on-site in office 100% of the time, without hybrid/remote option. This is a highly interactive and very fast-paced position requiring constant communication with Logistics and Sales departments.
